Using UPCS codes

How to Share a UPCS Code by Message

Send a UPCS code in a text or chat message so the recipient can find the exact place. What to include and how to avoid errors.

A short message is the most common way to share a code. Done well, it gives the recipient everything they need in one go.

    Steps

    1. Create or look up the code on upcs.io and confirm it shows the right place. See checking you chose the right spot.
    2. Copy the share link from the lookup page, or copy the code itself. See copying the share link.
    3. Open your messaging app and start a message to the person.
    4. Paste the link or code.
    5. Add a few words of context, then send.

    A good message

    Include three things:

    • The code or link, for example upcs.io/PK-1A2B-3C4D.
    • Where to go, such as "the side gate, not the front".
    • Your normal address, for people who may not use UPCS.

Example: "Come to the side gate on Park Road. UPCS code: PK-1A2B-3C4D."

A link opens the lookup page in one tap, with Open in Map and Get Directions available. A plain code is shorter and can be pasted into the search box. If you are not sure the recipient knows UPCS, send the link.

    Avoid mistakes

    • Copy and paste; do not retype.
    • Keep the hyphens and do not add spaces.
    • Avoid sending the code in a photo of handwriting if a text message is possible.

Be careful with who gets it

Anyone with the message can see the location. Privacy basics explains how to share sensibly, and how to share a UPCS code lists other methods.
