Account and Privacy Basics
How your UPCS account works with a WhatsApp number, what to keep private, and simple habits to protect your account and locations.
Updated 14 October 2026 · 2 min read
Your UPCS account is tied to your WhatsApp number, and signing in uses a one-time code instead of a password. A few habits keep it, and your locations, private.
What your account uses
- Your WhatsApp number, which receives the one-time code.
- The one-time code, which proves it is you signing in.
Because there is no password, the security of your account depends on who can read your WhatsApp messages. Keep your phone and WhatsApp locked appropriately.
Habits worth keeping
- Never tell the one-time code to anyone, even if they say they are from UPCS.
- Sign out on shared devices.
- Do not enter your number on pages you were sent by a stranger. Sign in from upcs.io.
- Think about who you share home codes with. A code points to an exact place, which privacy basics explains.
Codes and personal details
A code is a location identifier. It does not carry your name. Still, anyone who knows a code for your home knows where it is, so share it with the same care you would give your address.
Where to find things
Your account items are in the dashboard, including My postcodes.
Business accounts
Businesses that use API keys should keep keys on the server and follow the guidance in the partner panel. Partner account vs personal account explains the difference.

Frequently asked questions
Should I share my one-time code with anyone?
No. The one-time code is only for you to sign in, and nobody needs it from you.
