Using UPCS codes

    Codes Outside Supported Countries

Choosing a location outside the 25 supported countries returns the unsupported_location error. Here is what it means and what to do.

If you choose a place that is not in a supported country, UPCS does not generate a code. Instead you receive the response unsupported_location.

    What it means

UPCS works in 25 countries: Pakistan, United States, India, China, Brazil, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Argentina, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Vietnam. A point outside those countries is not covered, so there is no code to give.

    Steps to take

    1. Check where you placed the point. Zoom out and look at which country it falls in.
    2. If you chose the wrong place, move the map and select the correct one. Border areas are worth checking carefully.
    3. If the place really is outside the list, there is no UPCS code available for it at the moment.
    4. Use your normal address and the official postcode for that country in the meantime.

If you still want to describe the place precisely, you can share its coordinates from another mapping tool. Using coordinates in another app explains how coordinates work, although the UPCS lookup page will not show a place for a point it does not cover.

If you often work near a border, check the prefix on every code you receive. It tells you which country it belongs to.

    Frequently asked questions

    Is unsupported_location a technical fault?

No. It means the point you chose is outside the countries UPCS currently covers, so no code is created for it.
