Using UPCS codes
Using UPCS Codes for Apartment Buildings
A UPCS code points to a 3 m by 3 m cell, not a flat. Learn how to pick the building entrance and give unit details alongside the code.

In an apartment block, many homes share one entrance. A UPCS code can take someone to the right door of the building, but it cannot say which flat is yours. The solution is to pair the code with a few words.
Choose the right point
- Open the map on upcs.io and zoom in on the building.
- Choose the cell at the entrance that visitors or couriers should use, such as the main lobby door.
- If there is a separate entrance for deliveries, choose that one.
- Look up the code and confirm it is where you intended. See checking you chose the right spot.
Add the details a code cannot hold
A code stands for a 3 m by 3 m cell. It does not carry the block name, floor or flat number, so write them next to it. For example: "Block B, third floor, flat 12. UPCS code PK-1A2B-3C4D."
Why not choose a spot over your flat?
A building is stacked, and the map is flat. Choosing a point above your window does not tell anyone how to enter, and the entrance may be on another side. The entrance is what people need.
Large complexes
For a complex with several buildings, create a code per entrance and label each clearly. If the complex has a gate, see codes for gates too.
Sharing
Send the code with the unit details by message, or add both to an order note.
Remember that your normal address, including the flat number, is still needed; a UPCS code is not an official postal code.
Frequently asked questions
Can a UPCS code identify a particular floor or flat?
No. A code identifies a 3 m by 3 m cell on the map. Add the floor and unit number in words next to the code.
