Location Codes for Moving and Relocation Companies
How removal firms can use exact location codes for both ends of a move: the truck spot, the building entrance and the unloading plan.

Moving day has two locations and one deadline. The crew must be at the old address at the agreed hour, load, drive and unload at the new address before the lift booking or the parking permit expires. The quote is built on time, and time is lost wherever the crew has to search or wait for directions.
Two ends, two problems
At the old address, the customer knows the place well and tends to assume that others do as well. At the new address, the customer may never have visited at the time of booking, may have only a listing or contract address, and cannot give useful directions at all. This is where moves are most often delayed.
Pins for the key positions
A removal company can ask for a pin at each end:
- Truck position, which is the closest legal place to stop, not always the front door.
- Building entrance, where the crew carries items in.
- Service entrance or goods lift, which in apartment blocks is rarely the visitor door.
- Storage facility gate, if part of the load goes into store.
The codes go into the job sheet. On the day, the lead can send them to the driver of a second vehicle, and everyone arrives at the same place.
Building the quote
Distance from the truck position to the door affects the time and the price. A removal estimator who sees the pins on a map can compare the distance without visiting. That does not replace a survey for large moves, but it helps with quick quotes.
Limits
A code cannot say whether a street is closed on the day, whether a parking permit is in force or whether the lift is booked. These need separate checks. It is also not a legal reference to the customer's property.
For privacy, restrict the codes to the crew and office. Customers moving out of a home they are vacating may not want the new address exposed more widely than needed.

Crew briefing and confirmation
Add the two codes to the crew briefing and the customer's confirmation. When both sides hold the same reference, the day starts with fewer calls and the crew spends its time on the actual move.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a code for both the old and the new address?
It helps. A move has two addresses, and each can have its own code for the truck position and the entrance.
