UPCS currently supports 25 countries. If you choose a location inside one of them, you get a code beginning with that country's two-letter prefix. A point outside them returns an unsupported location error.
The 25 supported countries
Pakistan, United States, India, China, Brazil, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Argentina, South Africa, Nigeria, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Thailand and Vietnam.
How the country shows up in a code
The first two letters of a UPCS code are the country prefix. A code such as PK-1A2B-3C4D begins with the prefix for Pakistan. The prefix makes it quick to sanity-check a code: if a delivery is in one country, its code should begin with that country's prefix. For the full structure, see UPCS code format explained.
What happens outside coverage
If you select a point in a country that is not on the list, no code is generated. In the API this is returned as an error with the code unsupported_location. The same applies to points far from land, such as open sea, because they do not fall within a supported country.
What each country page covers
Country pages in the countries hub describe the official postal code format and addressing conventions of the country, how to find a postal code, and how deliveries work. They give the context in which a UPCS code is used alongside the official address.
Relationship with national systems
Support for a country does not mean any integration with its postal operator or government. UPCS is an independent location code that works beside national postal systems. See are UPCS codes official and UPCS code vs postal code.
Border areas
A location near a border takes its country from the point itself. Two points a short distance apart on opposite sides of a border will have different prefixes. If a code does not look right, check it on the map. See how to verify a digital address.
Planning ahead
If you run a shop that ships internationally, check that your customers' countries are on the list before you rely on collecting codes. For anything involving the integration, see the API documentation. To learn what a code is, read what is a UPCS code.
