On most forms, write your normal address in the address fields and put the digital address in a notes, delivery instructions or address line 2 field. Keep the code exactly as it was given to you, with the same letters, digits and hyphens.
Keep the main address intact
Postal systems, payment checks and tax records expect a standard address. Do not replace the street, city or postal code with a digital address. Fill those fields as you normally would, then add the code as extra information. This is the safest way to avoid rejected orders. See digital address vs postal address.
Where to put it
- Delivery instructions or notes. The best place, since drivers see it.
- Address line 2. Acceptable if there is no notes field and the form allows free text.
- A dedicated field. Some stores provide a location field or map. Use it if offered.
- Company or building name field. Avoid unless nothing else is available, since it can confuse sorting.
Format tips
- Copy and paste. It prevents transcription errors.
- Keep the hyphens and case as shown. A UPCS code looks like
PK-1A2B-3C4D. - Label it. Write something like "UPCS code: PK-1A2B-3C4D" so a human reader knows what it is.
- Add a link if possible. A link opens straight in a map and avoids the lookup step.
- Add a short note. For example, "Blue gate, ring bell 2."
An example
Address line 1: House 12, Street 5, Example Colony City: Lahore Delivery notes: UPCS code PK-1A2B-3C4D. Blue gate next to the pharmacy. Please call on arrival.
Character limits and special characters
Some fields have short limits or reject certain characters. Keep your note compact and put the code first so it is not cut off. If hyphens are rejected, use the notes field instead of altering the code. Altering a code can change which place it points to.
Check before you submit
Open the code on a map one last time. See how to verify a digital address. When sharing with couriers, also read how to share your location with a courier.
Frequently asked questions
What if the form rejects hyphens?
Try the code without hyphens only if the system documentation says that is acceptable. Otherwise put it in a notes field exactly as written.
