To find an Argentine postal code, use the code lookup provided by Correo Argentino, the national postal operator. It can return either the four-digit code or the CPA, depending on how much address detail you enter.

    Searching with the address

Enter the province, the locality, the street name and the number. The result for a full address is the CPA, from which the four-digit code can be read as the middle digits. If you enter only a locality, you typically get the four-digit code or a list of codes for it.

    Searching with a code

If someone gave you a code, you can enter it to see which localities or streets it belongs to. Compare this against the address you have. This is a fast way to catch a typo, such as two digits swapped, or a code from the wrong locality.

    Other places to check

    • Recent mail or bills. Utility and bank documents usually print the code.
    • The recipient. Most people know their four-digit code, and some know the CPA.
    • Business pages and invoices. Companies publish their address, including the code.
    • Map services. They can show a postal code, but they may use only the four-digit form, and the data can be outdated.

    How to verify

Check that the code has either four digits or the letter-four digits-three letters pattern. Confirm that the leading letter matches the province, for example C for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. Then check that the locality returned by the lookup matches the one in the address. The format guide explains the parts.

    If you are unsure

    • When you are not sure of the three final letters, give the four-digit code only. A wrong CPA is worse than a correct shorter code.
    • If a street runs through several localities, rely on the house number and the lookup result.
    • For new neighbourhoods and rural places, the code may be generic for the whole area; add a description of the access and the nearest cross street.
    • If a form rejects a code, check if it asks for the old or the CPA format.

    Adding an exact point

For places that a code and street cannot pinpoint, a UPCS code such as AR-XXXX-XXXX (placeholder) can be added next to the postal code. It does not replace the postal code and is not an official code. See the Argentina overview and the address format guide.

    Frequently asked questions

How can I find the CPA for an address?

Use the postal operator's lookup with the province, locality, street and number. It returns the CPA for that street segment.

What if my locality has several four-digit codes?

Large cities have many. Use the street and number in the lookup, since a locality name alone will not decide it.
