Gated Estates and New Developments
New estates often exist before their addresses do. See how a UPCS code gives each gate, block or home an exact location for visitors and deliveries.

A new estate is built in stages. Roads are laid, plots are sold, houses go up, and street names or numbers arrive later, sometimes much later. In the meantime residents and builders still need parcels, visitors and technicians to arrive. Map apps may show an empty field, or a road that has not been named yet.
A UPCS code gives each point in the development an exact location from day one. It takes anyone who opens it to the exact spot that was picked, a 3 m x 3 m square, whether that is the main gate, a block entrance or an individual front door. It complements the official address; it does not replace it.
Where it fits in estate life
- Sales offices: share the code of each plot with buyers so they can walk straight to it.
- Site management: give contractors the code of the gate they must use and the plot they are working on.
- Residents: hand a code to couriers and guests instead of a long explanation of the internal roads.
- Security desks: ask visitors to quote a code so the guard knows which block and entrance they are heading to.
Setting up a development
- Walk or drive the estate and pick the main entrance, secondary gates, and any delivery bay.
- Pick each block entrance or unit door on the map and save the codes in your master list.
- Print the gate code on the welcome pack and on the notice board.
- Give residents their own unit code so they can share it with any provider.
Residents sign in with a WhatsApp number and a one-time code, and saved locations appear under My postcodes in the dashboard.
Connecting to your other tools
Developers who run a sales site can embed the map so buyers choose a plot on your page. If you sell fittings or furniture through WordPress or WooCommerce, PrestaShop or OpenCart, the plugins let the buyer drop a pin at checkout and attach it to the order. See plugins for downloads and furniture and large item delivery for bulky deliveries.

Practical tips
- Zoom in until the grid appears and place the pin on the actual entrance, not on the road outside.
- Keep one shared list so sales, site and security teams use the same codes.
- Update the list when numbering is finally issued; the codes stay valid as locations, so you simply add the official address next to them.
- Mention the code in handover documents so new owners know it.
Frequently asked questions
Can drivers use it without installing anything? Yes. The code can be searched on upcs.io or opened as a link, and the lookup page offers Get Directions.
Is the code an official address? No. It is an exact-location code that sits alongside the official address and any postal code your country uses.
Frequently asked questions
Can a UPCS code mark a specific house inside an estate?
Yes. Pick the front door or the unit entrance on the map, and the code leads to that exact square inside the estate.
Should I code the estate gate or the unit?
Both are useful. The gate code helps drivers arrive, and the unit code helps them reach the right door once inside.
