Agent Banking and Mobile Money Agents

Small agent outlets are hard to find. See how a UPCS code lets customers and supervisors reach the exact counter, kiosk or shop front.

Agents are often the most local part of a financial network: a corner shop, a kiosk at a bus stop, a counter inside a pharmacy. Customers new to an area need to know where the nearest one is, and supervisors who visit to restock, train or check on agents need to find a unit that might not even have a sign.

A UPCS code can mark that outlet. It leads anyone who opens it to the exact spot that was picked, a 3 m x 3 m square. It is an independent location tool; it has no link to any bank, mobile money operator or regulator, and it does not change how those services work.

Supervisory visits are routine: field staff check float and cash availability, branding and tariff notices at each outlet, and in rural areas outlets can be a long way from the people who support them. Reaching the right counter on the first try matters.

    Two groups, two benefits

Customers: a short code on a poster, receipt or message leads them to the actual counter, not just the market in general.

Supervisors and field teams: the code records the exact outlet so an audit visit, a cash-in-transit stop or a training session goes to the right unit.

    Setting up an outlet

    1. Stand at the counter or the door customers use and pick it on the map.
    2. Print the code on a sign or sticker beside the logo.
    3. Send the code to the supervising office for the outlet register.
    4. If the outlet moves, create a new code and retire the old one in the register.

Keep a simple register with outlet name, code and opening hours; the code is stable because the same place always gives the same code.

    Sharing with customers

    • Include the code or link in messages and printed material.
    • Ask customers to type it in the search box at upcs.io to see the point and get directions.
    • A network's own website can use the embeddable map and REST API to show or store outlet locations; details are in the documentation.

    Practical tips

    • Pick the customer-facing door, not the back office.
    • For outlets inside another business, add a note such as "counter at the back" in your own register.
    • Check the printed code against the map before you print a batch of signs.
    • Remember that a code shows where, not whether the outlet is open; keep hours in your own materials.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the code an official bank or branch identifier? No. It identifies a place on the map, not a financial institution.

Will it work in my country? It works in the supported countries listed on the site; elsewhere the lookup returns an unsupported location error.

    Frequently asked questions

Does UPCS integrate with a mobile money platform?

No. UPCS has no integration with any bank or mobile money operator. It is an independent exact-location code you can share with customers.

Can an agent put the code on a shop sign?

Yes. A short code on a sign lets customers search it and be taken to the exact spot of the outlet.
