Find the right Turkish posta kodu for a neighbourhood and street: use the PTT tools, check the province digits, and verify before you ship.

The official source for a Turkish postal code is PTT, the national postal operator. Codes are tied to the neighbourhood and street, so you need the neighbourhood (mahalle), district and province before you can look one up reliably.
What you need first
- The province (il) and district (ilçe)
- The neighbourhood (mahalle)
- The street name (cadde or sokak)
A city name alone is rarely enough, because a province such as Istanbul has a very large number of codes.
Ways to find the code
- PTT online search. The operator provides a postal code search on its official website, where you select the province, district and neighbourhood to see the code. Always use the operator's own site.
- PTT branch. Counter staff can look up the code for an address and tell you the correct format.
- Official correspondence. Bills, bank letters or a parcel slip sent to the same address usually show the code.
- The checkout itself. Many Turkish online shops suggest the code once the neighbourhood is picked; confirm it matches your address.
How to verify
- Check that it has exactly five digits.
- Check that the first two digits match the province number.
- Check that the neighbourhood and district listed with it match yours.
- Make sure the leading zero is kept for provinces 01 to 09.
The reasoning behind these checks is explained on the postal code format page.
If you are unsure
Neighbourhood boundaries and codes can change as cities grow, and new housing areas may not appear in older directories. If different sources disagree, prefer the PTT result or ask a branch. Write the full address clearly, since mahalle, street and number carry most of the delivery information in Turkey.
Where a UPCS code helps
A UPCS code does not give you the posta kodu and should not be entered in the postal code field. It is useful when you want to show the exact building entrance: select the spot on the UPCS map and add the TR-XXXX-XXXX code to your note or delivery instructions. The Turkey delivery guide explains how couriers and shops can use it.
Frequently asked questions
Where can I get the official Turkish postal code?
PTT, the national postal service, is the official source. Its branches and its own online search tools can return the code for a neighbourhood and street.
How can I quickly check if a Turkish postal code is plausible?
It must have five digits, and the first two should match the province number. For instance, a code for Ankara should begin with 06.
