What Is UPCS and Who Is It For?

UPCS, the Universal Post Code System at upcs.io, gives an exact location a short code. You choose a spot on a map, and UPCS generates a code for it that anyone can look up later to see the same place.
A normal address describes a building or street. A UPCS code points to a precise place, so it is useful when an address is vague, missing a house number, or covers a large site with several entrances.
What a code looks like
Each code follows the pattern CC-XXXX-XXXX: a two-letter country prefix followed by two blocks of letters and digits, for example PK-1A2B-3C4D. Every code corresponds to a 3 m by 3 m grid cell, and the same coordinates always produce the same code. See understanding the code format for more detail.
Who it is for
- Anyone receiving visitors or deliveries. Give friends, drivers or couriers a precise meeting point instead of a long set of directions.
- Shoppers and senders. Add the code to an order or address note so the delivery location is clear.
- Businesses. Partners can use UPCS in their stores through plugins or the API, which is covered separately in the business help section.
What it is not
UPCS complements normal addresses; it does not replace them or the official postal system. Read what a code cannot do before relying on it for anything formal.
How to begin
The fastest route is the quick start: open the map, choose a location, and copy the code that appears. From there you can share it or look up codes other people send you.
Frequently asked questions
Is UPCS the same as my national postcode?
No. A UPCS code is not an official postal code and is not issued by any government. It is an extra code for an exact location that can sit alongside your normal address.
