A UAE address is written either in a street style or in a P.O. Box style. Street addresses combine building, street, area and emirate, while P.O. Box addresses use a box number at a post office. Because many places have no formal house number, a landmark and phone number play a bigger role than in many other countries.
Street-style order
- Recipient name
- Villa, apartment or building name or number
- Street or road name, if one is used
- Area or community (for example a neighbourhood or development)
- Emirate (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah)
- Country
- Phone number
Add a landmark line, such as the nearest mall, mosque, metro station or well-known building, to guide the courier.
P.O. Box style

A box address works for post office mail but not for a courier who needs to reach a door. Many couriers therefore ask for both.
Language and script
English and Arabic are both widely used, and English is common in business and e-commerce. Building and community names are often brand names or developments, so copy them exactly as they appear on signage. Arabic text can accompany the English where the form allows.
Buildings, communities and landmarks
Towers, villa communities and gated developments are common. For a tower, include the tower name and apartment number. For a villa community, include the community, cluster or street number and villa number. In Dubai, a Makani number can be added where the customer has it. Landmarks are accepted everywhere and often decisive.

Adding an exact location
A UPCS code such as AE-XXXX-XXXX can be added to the notes to pinpoint the entrance or pickup spot. It is not an official address component. See what is used instead of postal codes and how to find the right address details.
Frequently asked questions
Is a phone number part of a UAE address?
It is not part of the formal address, but couriers rely on it so heavily that most delivery forms treat it as essential.
Do UAE addresses use street numbers?
Sometimes. Many areas use named roads and building names, and some emirates use plot or street numbers, so follow whatever local identifiers your building uses.
